Having done a large portion of the coast and castles (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to Berwick-Upon-Tweed), the next part of the journey was to get from Berwick to Manchester along the Pennine Cycleway. The Pennine Cycleway is a renowned long-distance cycling route in the United Kingdom, spanning approximately 355 miles (572 km) from Derby in central England to Berwick-upon-Tweed on the English-Scottish border. This scenic trail promises to take cyclists on an epic journey through the stunning landscapes of the Pennines, offering a mix of challenging climbs, serene valleys, and picturesque towns and villages along the way. I grabbed a route from Komoot.
This was the day Penny was returning back to Manchester on the train. I was a little worried about the cold the last few nights, so we made an impromptu trip to GoOutdoors in Berwick where I bought myself a RAB down jacket that I had been eyeing up but not been able to bring myself to buy. Then I dropped Penny off at the station before beginning my journey.
I bumped into a few castles.
Eventually I reached a place called Clennell Hall Riverside Holiday Park where I pitched up my tent.
